April 23, 2018

Yoooooooooo! What's up everyone? I hope everyone is all having a great day and that life is going well! Now, let's catch everyone up with what's been happening here in good ol' Redding!

Well a couple weeks ago we had some great times! I went on an exchange with my glorious Zone Leader, Elder Hannemann. He's a great man. Not much really happened on our exchange, but it was still a great learning experience we had together. We grew a lot closer that day so that's good. Wednesday was Zone Conference. It was by far the best Zone Conference ever! We got our smartphones all set up so that was cool, except they are these crappy Samsung’s, so it made me realize why I'm forever sticking to Apple!

Brothers Tanner and Gonzalez from the Missionary Department came and were just teaching us about the importance of planning and finding. It was so insightful and it's really going to benefit the work! Also, that week I went on exchange with Elder Robinson who was in the same MTC group as me! He also happens to be my mission nephew! (Which means his trainer and I were both trained by Elder Dixon) Not much happened for us except we did have an awesome, super spiritual lesson to end the night with this girl named Nikki, even though the lesson was intended for a recent convert! But it was such a great experience. That weekend we were in Weaverville and it was so great! We had a couple great lessons with Sean Williamson and his kids. They are so awesome and they are so ready for baptism! Just a few weeks away! We attended Sacrament meeting in Weaverville because it was Ward Conference and it was amazing! Afterwards, they had a potluck and the food was so dang good! That week was a pretty solid one!

This past week wasn't too bad either. On Monday we started teaching these two siblings of a recent convert named Aiden and Lilly, who are 10 and 13, and they are just great! Our first lesson was awesome and they are now preparing to be baptized on May 12th! Total miracle! On Wednesday we helped the Zone Leaders and the Redding 2nd/3rd ward elders move apartments for about 4.5 hours so that was tons of fun. That night we had a super solid lesson with the most recent convert in the Redding 5th Ward, Gabe Rocha. Gabe is so awesome! He's been working hard at getting himself to the temple to receive his endowment.  He fell back into an old habit with drinking coffee, but when he got there he hadn't had any for 3 days! He's so awesome and I know that he'll make it to the temple soon! Thursday, we had a very long and frustrating lesson with good ol' Norman that was nearly 2 hours and basically zero progress was made.......I honestly don’t know how he can talk so much!!!! Friday, we started off the day with our first lesson with Venus Palmer and her son O'Rian. We basically just talked about the Book of Mormon and challenged them to read it and they said yes! We had a good lesson with our main man Todd. The only challenge with Todd is that he has a lot of health challenges and he holds a lot of anger towards God for his struggles, so it makes it a little difficult, but we still have great faith in him!
We concluded our Friday evening at the Schaub's home with the Zone Leaders drinking some dang good Apple Cider Shakes! Saturday, we had a couple good lessons with TJ and Jimmy and that's about that. Sunday was a good day of 7 hours of church so that's always fun!

Anyways, I think that should catch y'all up on my life. I love you all and hope all of you have a fantastic week! Also, don't forget to send me some emails! I'd love to hear from all of you!

April 9, 2018

Hey everyone! Nothing too exciting really went on, but I'll still keep you all informed!

Monday, we went on an awesome hike that was up towards Mt. Shasta! And that was pretty much about it.

Tuesday was a pretty solid day. We had a couple great lessons. One of them being with this lady named Frankie Bobo. We contacted this one potential investigator named Jeff Hunter. We knocked on his door and he thought we were there to just hangout and like play video games with him. It was a little odd, but it was kind of funny. We had dinner with the Brown family and they were super awesome! They are converts of about 10 years and they told us their conversion story. It's pretty cool. They were converted all because many years ago the church, I guess, had commercials on TV and they ordered a VHS tape. For some years the missionaries came by and would ask if they would be interested but it wasn't until sometime later they finally said yes! The rest is history.

Wednesday was District meeting which is always a great time! We then had a good lesson with our main man Todd! Todd is so great! We taught him the Restoration of the Gospel and it was fantastic! Then I met with the Doctor for all my diabetes stuff and that was good. What was awesome was while we were sitting in the office waiting, they were playing some Christopher Cross so that made me super happy, but also had me thinking of home, and that's not a good thing! Elder Semeatu was feeling like crap so we stayed in the rest of the night.

Thursday was just what I like to call, "The day of NO'S!!!!" It was just one of those days that makes you really appreciate the great days!

Friday was good ol' Weekly Planning. So, we did that for most of the day and then we met with a man named TJ. TJ has had a pretty rough life. He just got released from prison after being there for 19 years! He's a really great guy who's just looking for the right path. He's been reading the Book of Mormon lately and he said it has brought a lot of peace into his life! I always love hearing people say that because it's the absolute truth!

Saturday, we just contacted a ton and attended a baptism for our Zone Leaders. Then a recent convert in 5th Ward fed us dinner. His name is Gabe and he is so awesome! We had a great talk with him and we are going to start meeting with him weekly to try and get him to the temple!

Sunday was a very long day, but a good one! We had 7 hours of church and oh boy, it takes a ton out of you, but it was great! Both 1st and 5th Ward are awesome and the members are just the best. We had a good lesson with a man named Norman, who's been investigating the church for a couple years now. He has a couple issues he needs to work out, but I have hope he can make it to baptism!

Anyways, I love you all and am grateful for each and every one of you! I miss you all dearly, but I'm so grateful for this time I've been given to do the Lord's work and to share his Gospel with the people of California. Have a great week everyone! Stay awesome!

Love,
Elder Schneiter

April 3, 2018

Well, you all probably thought I went missing or something, but surprise I'm still alive! Sorry, it has just been a crazy past few weeks so I haven't had much time to email. Plus, my tablet was acting dumb for a couple of weeks so I wasn't even getting emails. But anyway, I'll just sum up the good stuff that has happened over the past couple of weeks!

Two weeks ago, Darlene was BAPTIZED!!!! It was so awesome! She is just amazing and the Spirit just radiates from her! I had the awesome opportunity to baptize her and it was incredible. Man, it was such a wonderful way to end my time in Roseville! I'm not gonna lie it was hard leaving Roseville because everyone there was just so awesome and the work was going so great! It was great as well because during my final sacrament meeting I was able to bear my testimony and let everyone there know how much I love and appreciate them. Roseville will forever hold a place in my heart <3

So yes I was transferred.............and I was transferred to good ol' Redding, California! Yes, I now have left California and entered the State of Jefferson ha-ha. I was so excited when I found out I was getting transferred here! Let's just say this Utah boy was missing the mountains ha-ha. It's so awesome because you can get some beautiful views of Mount Shasta here! Except the drawback is it smells like straight weed here and there are quite a few crazy people, but there are also some amazing people here. My new companion is Elder Semeatu and he is so awesome!! He's only been out for 3 months so it's actually pretty fun being with a newbie like me. He's from Australia and New Zealand so he has a sweet accent. But we have been having a ton of fun and seeing lots of miracles. We cover 3 Wards so it is a lot to handle but it's great because we always have something to do. Our first weekend together we went up to Weaverville and had a few lessons and attended sacrament meeting there. One of our lessons was with Sean Williamson and it was an interesting experience, but it was awesome!  We extended the invitation to be baptized on May 12th, but they said they needed to get married first (which we knew) so they said that wouldn't work because they we are getting married May 19th! We invited him to be baptized on May 26th and he said YES! And the two sons, Cobe and Oogie, said yes to being baptized on June 2nd! So, it was an awesome miracle. The next day attending sacrament meeting was very interesting because it is a really small ward, like really small. But it was still great.

This week was a pretty great week I'd say. On Tuesday, we had interviews with President Ward and that was great as usual. He is such an incredible and inspired man. We also got our smartphones so that was exciting, except they aren't active for another couple weeks but, it's whatever. On Thursday, we had an incredible miracle! We went to visit this potential investigator named Todd and when we got there he was sitting on his patio. We had an amazing discussion with him about Jesus Christ and the Atonement. The Spirit was so strong while we were with him, and by the end of it, we were all in tears and when we left, he gave both me and Elder Semeatu and hug. He's a great guy and we have a lot of hope for him.

But oh man! The highlight of this week had to be General Conference! It was so amazing. The Spirit was just being poured out during each session and it was just such an amazing thing to witness! All the changes are totally inspired and are truly a testimony to me that the Lord is in charge and that we can still receive revelation today! Speaking of revelation, my favorite talk was President Nelson's. I loved how he spoke on how we can receive personal revelation through the Holy Ghost. But General Conference was just amazing. But still a little saddened they didn't announce a Sandy temple:(

Anyways, I love you all and I appreciate all the love and support you give me. And just know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers! Have a great week and party it up for me!

Love, Elder Schneiter
